The Department of Digital Media at the College of Arts, Alnoor University, held a scientific seminar on Tuesday morning, dated 23/12/2025, entitled The Digital Space A Tool of Resistance or a Promoter of Addiction
This was held within the framework of the university’s efforts to shed light on contemporary issues associated with the increasing use of digital technologies and their various impacts on the individual and society.
The seminar was supervised by Lecturer Dr. Karam Muzaffar Jasim, a faculty member of the department, and featured contributions from a number of specialists. Assistant Lecturer Ali Osama Alrifa‘i from the Sunni Endowment Directorate delivered a paper addressing the religious perspective on confronting addiction. Meanwhile, Lecturer Dr. Raed Suleiman Mohammed from the Ministry of Health presented a lecture on the harmful health effects of addiction. In addition, Colonel Hazim from the Community Police reviewed the security dimension of limiting addiction and the role of security institutions in awareness-raising and treatment.
The seminar witnessed a notable attendance of faculty members and students and included discussions and questions that enriched its themes. It contributed to deepening awareness of the importance of employing the digital space in a positive manner and reducing its risks, particularly those related to the phenomenon of addiction and its various repercussions.
