About the Department
The Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems studies the relationship between humans and the environment by analyzing natural and human phenomena, using the latest geographic technologies such as Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The department aims to prepare qualified scientific personnel capable of analyzing spatial data, producing digital maps, and utilizing them in planning, management, and sustainable development.
Objectives of the Department
Providing students with a solid scientific foundation in the fields of physical and human geography. Preparing students to utilize modern technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. Developing skills in spatial analysis and the production of digital maps. Encouraging applied scientific research in the fields of planning, environmental, and urban development. Enhancing the department’s role in serving the community through geographic consultations and applied projects. Building partnerships with governmental and research institutions in the fields of applied geography and spatial information systems.
