About the Department
Objectives of the Department
The department aims to prepare students to become highly skilled translators capable of handling translations from Arabic to English and vice versa in various fields, including political, legal, commercial, religious, simultaneous, scientific, and journalistic translation. It seeks to facilitate and encourage translation to contribute to enriching the cultural movement and transferring Iraq's and the Arab world's intellectual heritage, both ancient and modern, into English. The department also focuses on the Arabization of sciences and works on enhancing the quality and proficiency of translation through active participation in conferences, seminars, and study sessions.
Vision of the Department
The mission of this department is to keep up with the scientific and cultural movements taking place around the world and to make Alnoor University one of the centers of academic creativity that contributes to enriching the culture of our society by conveying the knowledge and advancements achieved globally in all fields. Additionally, it aims to transfer our intellectual and cultural creations to the world through translation, which has become a constructive tool for transferring information.
Message of the Department
Graduate Description
A graduate of the Translation Department can be employed in any government agency as a translator, as every department requires translators. The graduate can work as a translator in any translation office, and after obtaining an Iraqi translators' ID, they can open their own translation office. This ID is available to all department graduates. The graduate can also work in education and teaching if needed. Furthermore, the graduate can work with relevant organizations and local or international companies. If the graduate is unable to find a suitable job, they can contribute to society by working as a translator from home.
