As part of Alnoor University's delegation program in the United Kingdom to expand international academic and cultural cooperation, the delegation accepted an invitation to visit the British Museum in London. The visit aimed to explore one of the world's most significant collections documenting the ancient civilizations of Iraq and Mesopotamia.

The delegation was received by Professor Paul Collins, Head of the Middle East Department at the British Museum and a specialist in the archaeology of Mesopotamia and the Assyrian and Babylonian collections. During the meeting, discussions focused on Iraq's rich cultural heritage and the importance of strengthening scientific and academic cooperation in the fields of archaeology and cultural heritage.

The university delegation conducted an extensive tour of the museum’s galleries, including the Assyrian galleries and the Mesopotamian collections. During the tour, the delegation viewed a number of the museum’s most significant artifacts, sculptures, and Assyrian reliefs originating from historic sites across Iraq, particularly from Nineveh and the Assyrian palaces, which stand as enduring testimonies to the grandeur of the Assyrian civilization and its invaluable legacy to humanity. The British Museum is indeed home to a remarkable collection of Assyrian sculptures from Nineveh.

This visit comes as part of Alnoor University's commitment to strengthening its relationships with leading international cultural, museum, and academic institutions. It also reflects the University's strategic interest in archaeological and tourism studies through its Archaeological Tourism program, while supporting scientific research and creating new opportunities for faculty members and students to engage with international institutions specializing in archaeology and cultural heritage.
